Gallery Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 12:00pm-4:00pm

2012 Open Exhibition Rules

The Open Exhibition @ the APSU Downtown Gallery is an opportunity for all artists (over 18) living in Montgomery County, Tennessee to exhibit their work, sell their work and to help raise money for college art scholarships. To date, sixteen art majors at Austin Peay State University have received the US BANK SCHOLARSHIP; numerous artists from the Clarksville community have been honored for their creative achievements by monetary awards presented at the Open Exhibition. US Bank and the APSU art faculty thank you for your support and encourage your participation in the 2012 Open Exhibition.

ENTRY FEE
There is an entry fee of $10.00 (only one work of art per artist may be entered. 20% of all commissions will be donated to the APSU/US Bank Scholarship Fund.

ELIGIBILITY
Residents (18 years and older) of Montgomery County and surrounding region may submit one work of art in the amateur or the professional division. APSU art faculty are welcome to submit work to the exhibition but will not be considered for awards. All entries must be original and not previously shown in the Open Exhibition.

SPECIFICATIONS
There is no limitation on the size of entries. All two-dimensional work should be framed under glass or plexiglass. Submitted work must be prepared for presentation with hanging wire or other appropriate hardware attached to the work. Three-dimensional work should be assembled upon delivery to the APSU Gallery. All artwork which requires special handling must include specific instructions for handling and assembly.

AGREEMENT
1) Artwork may not be removed before the close of the exhibition.
2) The juror and the exhibition committee reserve the right to disqualify any entry that fails to meet the criteria stated in this prospectus.
3) Artwork must be removed from the gallery at the time stated in the exhibition schedule.

LIABILITY
Reasonable precautions will be taken when handling entries. The APSU Downtown Gallery, however, cannot assume liability for the loss or damage of artwork submitted to the exhibition. Artists are encouraged to arrange for private insurance to protect their work during the time of the exhibition. The  Gallery will not be responsible for any work remaining beyond the scheduled pick-up time.

DELIVERY / RETURN OF WORK
All artwork must be hand delivered and picked-up at the time and date listed in the exhibition calendar. Artwork will be released only to the artist or the designee listed on the entry form.

CATEGORIES
Amateur: Artists who paint for their own pleasure –have not received a professional art college or university art department education.
Professional: artists who have received a professional art education and who regularly sell their artworks (includes college art students).

AWARDS
BEST OF SHOW amateur or professional – $300
FIRST PLACE amateur / professional – $200
SECOND PLACE amateur / professional – $100
THIRD PLACE amateur / professional – $50 each
PURCHASE AWARDS by Downtown Businesses

Saturday 3/31/12
Entries Delivered to : The APSU Downtown Gallery 12-5pm.
The Gallery is located at 116 Strawberry Alley.

Thursday 4/5/12
Public reception for the Open Exhibition 5-8 pm.
Awards to be announced at 6 pm.

Thursday 4/5/12-Saturday 4/28/12
Exhibition open to the public during Scheduled APSU Downtown Gallery hours.

Sunday 4/29/12
All entries (except award winners) picked up at the APSU Downtown Gallery, 12-4pm.

Monday 4/30/12-Thursday 5/11/12
Award winners on display at US Bank Public Square/Downtown Clarksville Office.

Friday 5/11/12
Award winners pick-up at the US Bank 12-5pm.
