Rivers & Spires brings a wide variety of events to the streets of downtown Clarksville. We are still working a full line-up of events for 2014 (check back for more information), but here are some of the events you can expect:
Come and shop with us in Historic Downtown Clarksville to find all kinds of unique art from local and regional artists. All pieces are handcrafted and/or homemade. Mediums include: woodworking, pottery, paintings, illustrations, fabric/clothing, jewelry, furniture and much more.
Aspire to Stardom
This award-winning Youth Talent Show features some of the area’s youngest entertainers. From singers to dancers, magicians to comedians, this show has it all. Those interested in competing must fill out and application and attend try-outs. If selected, you will perform in front of a panel of talent scouts! This could be your BIG BREAK!
Gearheads will delight in the Motor Madness that takes over the Festival streets! Two car shows are part of this year’s Festival: Memory Lane Cruisers featuring vintage vehicles of all makes and models and Chevy’s on the Cumberland (Previously called Corvettes on the Cumberland) showcasing one of America’s most loved vehicles – the Corvette.
Rivers and Spires Children’s Parade is back again for a 10th year, entertaining children 12-years-old and under and their families! Characters in costume, small floats and walkers are all part of the annual Rivers & Spires Festival Children’s Parade.
Clarksville’s Got Talent
Montgomery County’s amateur stars shine in this local talent competition hosted by Q108. Tryouts begin before the Festival, held in locations throughout Clarksville, and those who advance compete on stage in front of a live audience at the 2043 festival. Festival of Nations
This Clarksville favorite has been redesigned and enhanced! The diverse cultures of the Clarksville community are showcased in an array of costumes, dance, food and visual arts. Festival of Nations is a whole world of culture, cuisine and entertainment in one area. Among the diverse regions representated are cultural experiences from Japan, Panama, China, India, Africa, the Phillipines, Germany, Mexico, Puerto Rico and many more!
This area, located in the Madison St. UMC parking lot, teaches children and families about stewardship, recycling and Earth’s valuable resources. Local businesses can set up a booth to teach Festival patrons about their company’s green initiatives.
Family Fun Zone
Travel through our inflatable jungle, climb velcro walls, paint, create, or participate in all kinds of interactive entertainment! The area is filled with over 60 FREE events for kids of all ages to enjoy. Special kids entertainer will perform on Friday and Saturday at various times.
Last Band Standing
This rock and roll competition grows every year! Hundreds of bands from around the region submit their songs to Z 97.5and those selected play on stage in a Battle of the Bands competition. Audience and guest judges choose the winner!
Open on Friday and Saturday the Marketplace is a plethora of vendors selling everything from sunglasses to antiques. This flea-market inspired area is a bargain shoppers paradise!
Quilts of the Cumberland
This FREE art show features quilts of all shapes and sizes. The artistic beauty of these pieces will amaze you. Juried exhibitions as well as non-juried exhibitions will take place at this year’s show. Those interested in participating in the exhibition may fill out an application.
River Queen Pageant
Young ladies from across the state are invited to compete in the festival’s beauty pageant. Winners will advance to the Miss Tennessee USA and Teen USA pageant. River Queen is held in March at APSU Clement Auditorium. For more information visit the River Queen page.
Military Appreciation Zone
One of the founding goals of the Rivers & Spires Festival is to honor our Soldiers. With this mission in mind, we have started the Military Appreciation Area. While we have always had military exhibits, displays and demonstrations throughout the Festival, this year they will all come together in one central location. Second Street and the Courthouse parking lot will be host to the “USAA Military Appreciation Area: Honoring Our Heroes Past, Present and Future”. Experience this area like never before. Children of all ages will delight in the interactive displays and activities. Everyone can feel a sense of pride when they see the dedication and commitment these Soldiers have to their country.
The Sports Zone is an area for all ages that includes interactive athletic games and sporting activities. Located in the area between Third Street and Main Street the Sports Zone will be filled with athletic themed inflatables, games to test your sporting skills and activities for every member of your family!
Gig City Gaming
The Gig City Gaming Event is sponsored by CDE Lightband and is a gamer’s mecca! The entire lower parking garage on Franklin and Third Street will be transformed into a gigantic video gaming zone! There is a game and a console for everyone.
